The rules behind the cards

Cards turn participation and performance into something you can actually see. Here is how events, ranks and placements translate into your score.

The four suits — what kind of event you did
♠

Spades

Workshops, Git & Resume sessions and skill-building activities.

♦

Diamonds

Competitive events such as codeathons, quizzes and individual contests.

♣

Clubs

Hackathons and team events including AI builds, CTFs and game jams.

♥

Hearts

Alumni interactions, mock interviews, mentorship and community events.

The ranks — how many points each card is worth
A
1 pt
Participation in a lighter event — given to everyone who takes part.
2–8
2–8 pts
Participation in a bigger event — the exact weight is decided by the club team beforehand.
9
9 pts
5th place finish.
10
10 pts
4th place finish.
J
11 pts
3rd place finish.
Q
12 pts
2nd place / runner-up.
K
13 pts
1st place / winner.

Rule 1 — one participation card per event

You receive either an Ace or a 2–8 card for taking part — never both. The exact value depends on how important the event is.

Rule 2 — placement cards stack on top

Finish in the top 5 and you receive an additional placement card, from 9 through King, on top of your participation card.

Quizzes at every event

Events and workshops can end with a short quiz, giving even non-competitive sessions a learning-based contribution to the leaderboard.

Small events

Placement cards only go to the number of people who actually competed. If only three people participate, there is no 5th-place card.

Winning a major Event

A weighted participation card worth 6 points plus a King worth 13 points.

→ 6 + 13 = 19 points

Attending a smaller event

A smaller event, so participants receive an Ace.

→ 1 point

Where SIH fits in

Smart India Hackathon is college-wide rather than club-run. The club can promote it, but it is tracked separately from the card leaderboard.

What the record is used for

Strong records — overall or within a suit — can be considered when selecting Sub-Coordinators and can give members an edge during future core-team selection.
